Kids of Today, Members of Tomorrow

This is a great article on marketing events—or anything—to youth. Would any parent of a teen-ager be surprised by these points?

What drives kids:  Control. They like to think they’re in charge. Aspiration. They want to be treated as if they are older, smarter, richer and stronger than they really are. Excitement.  They like to stretch boundaries.

Boothmanship: How to Avoid Wasting Time with "Dud" Attendees

Event organizers everywhere are looking to improve their content, their logistics, their pricing and their return rates for both attendees and exhibitors. These next two articles refer to providing tools to do just that.

Susan A. Friedmann, CSP, also known as The Tradeshow Coach, wrote this article that speaks to how exhibitors can make the most of their time looking for profitable contacts at exhibitions.  We suggest including information like this on the exhibitor pages of your web site as an informational tool. AWHONN, the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrical and Neonatal Nurses’ event was held in San Diego recently, and their website included information that potential attendees could use to help convince the boss of their need to attend.  The event team even provided a letter template to download, customize and use…n easy-to-provide tool to help boost attendance!

EventView 2009: Event Marketing Survey Finds Measurement Critical

“Organizations that have a process for post-event measurement are twice as likely to receive increases in their marketing budgets than those that do not.”  And, “[for corporations] 25 percent of the marketing budget is spent on event marketing.”

Given the current economic climate, getting more funding for any aspect of event development—especially event marketing--is a rare thing.  This report from George P. Johnson, MPI and the Event Marketing Institute reveals other insights on “the most effective way to accelerate and deepen relationships.” To read the entire article, click here or copy and paste this link into a web browser: http://meetingsnet.com/corporatemeetingsincentives/news/eventview_2009/
